Each和every的意思相近，意为“每个”，在一些句式中可以替换使用，比如：

Each time I see you, you look different.
每次我见到你，你看起来都不一样。

Every time I see you, you look different.
每次我见到你，你看起来都不一样。

但是两者又不完全相同。区别在哪里呢？

认清Each

We use each when we think of things separately, one by one，即，把每个当做个体来看待。

例：Put each ball on the table carefully. = put each ball one by one.
小心地把每个球放在桌子上。=把每个球一个一个放好。

认清Every

We use every when we think of things as a group. The meaning is similar to all.当我们把每个事物看成一个整体时，我们通常使用every。

例：Every ball in the bag is on the table.= all balls in the bag
袋子里的每个球都在桌子上。=袋子里的所有球

Every可以用来表达频率:

‘How often do you use your car?’

‘Every day.’ (not Each day)

Each与Every用法对比

1. Each通常用于小数量的物品，Every通常用于大数量的物品：

There were four books on the table. Each book was a different colour.
桌子上有四本书。每本书都是不同的颜色。

At the beginning of the game, each player has three cards.

游戏开始时，每个玩家有三张牌。

Kate loves reading. She has read every book in the library. (= all the books)
凯特喜欢阅读。她读过图书馆里的每一本书（所有的书）

I’d like to visit every country in the world. (= all the countries)
我想参观世界上的每个国家(所有国家)

2. Each可以加名词，也可以不加。Every后面一定要加名词。

Each room is different. (each+noun)

每个房间都不一样。(每个+名词)

None of the rooms are the same. Each is different. (each）
没有一个房间是一样的。各不相同。(每个)

Every room in this hotel is different. (every+noun)
这家酒店的每个房间都不一样。(每个+名词)

3. 我们可以使用each of...(... 中的每一个)

但是不可以使用every of。Every one of...是可行的。

Each of the books was a different colour. (not each of books)
每本书都是不同的颜色。(不是每本书)

Each of them was a different colour.
它们每个都是不同的颜色。

Read each of these sentences carefully
仔细阅读这些句子

I’ve read every one of those books. (not every of those books)

那些书我都读过了。(并非所有这些书)

I’ve read every one of them.

每一本我都读过。

Each的其他使用规则

1. Each可以用于指代双方：

In football, each team has eleven players. (not every team)

在足球比赛中，每个队有11名队员。(不是每个团队)

2. Each既可以用在句首，也可以用在句尾：

The students were each given a book. = Each student was given a book.

给了学生每人一本书。每个学生都拿到了一本书。

3. 在表达单个物品的价钱时，我们通常使用each：

These oranges are 40 pence each. (each = for one orange)
这些橘子每只40便士。(每个=一个橙子)
